“Interviewer: ‘So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?’ Frank Zappa: ‘You have a wooden leg. Does that make you a table?”

ASIDE…

.

GOOD MORNING! (tried to insert smiley here, but it’s over there…)

It’s the Australia Day long weekend here in Oz, and I have been blessed with one extra day this weekend to do what I’d rather be doing with my life (writing) than what I am doing (sitting at a desk 8 hours a day in an office the temperature of a butcher’s cooler).

OH!  That reminds me of the words of Frank Zappa.  So choice:

“If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.”

.

With my goal being to publish this year, I’ve looked at the very first chapter and reworked it.  I have then made * a new tab on my page *, titled ‘The Coming Together‘.

Plan is, as I redraft each chapter, I will add a teaser to it in the new tab.   I’m fairly systematic, and with things in their ‘place’ like that, I sense some order coming out of this endeavour.  By the end, the WHOLE novel in second draft and ready to publish will be on the new tab.

Like? :)  I do!

So new Subbers, and people who want to start “at the beginning” can go directly to that tab and start with day 1, which is actually the PREFACE.

Thanks for being there :) .

“One size does not fit all.”  Frank Zappa

I know it’s a bit late for wishing you Happy Australia Day, but I wish you only the Best for will be coming your way and for you writing your book. Great stuff – and I open of all of my heart that you will get it published one day. You’re such talent writer – and if it’s being published I want you to read it for me on e-book. *smile

Hee hee – as I read your comment, as it came out, this is what I read, “Best of luck with your plan. Makes me think I should construct one too. As for Frank Zappa, makes me think I shouldn’t.” So funny – we DO read what we expect/want to!

Ah, a plan… well, I don’t even budget; you know? But this plan is for some beginning & end sense. The beginning, & progressing toward the end is that new tab – chapter upon chapter WHEN I CAN I revisit an oldie, re-edit. Meanwhile, chapter upon chapter, as it moves me day to day, I write the ‘presently’. Not enormous sense of planning, but what I feel to do about now.

But OHHHHHHHH want to break away three magical weeks, to focus entirely on the novel. It’s soooooooooo frustrating fitting it in before/after 8-hours daily in the office….

I think Zappa is well worth the read-up. I got googling on him and was fascinated for about an hour. Thanks for coming by :)

Don’t be ashamed to say JennyGoth – I’ve only ‘heard of him’ too! But I spied a quote then looked up more then starting looking into all about him. I’m sure he’s made a difference to many: and that’s what I call a great life.

      Thanks for coming by :)

Awesome taste, Marina. Zappa, from what I’ve read so far – which leaves me wanting to read more – he’s great, a human being. I’ve always loved guitar and loved piano… & totally loved wisdom. Art takes many forms, hey.

All the best with your goal to get published this year. I love how you’re organising stuff. I’m an organiser too! Look forward to being able to buy the story we’ve been following here.
    With love xx

How wonderful to hear such positive interest – my sincere thanks, Sally. Drives me onward!
I’ve never had a goal about career or achievement, or even retirement (Daniel has told me how he’ll be set up for retirement!!), so it is quite something else for me to aim for something…. true! Love your feedback :)

Oh, my gosh – shame on me, as I couldn’t quote a single song. I just came by this quote and it was so apt, loved it. I remember him though, his profile, but I can’t say I went to concerts or bought records.

I’m not a bit surprised you’re familiar, Michael. Your scope of knowledge in films and music is ENORMOUS. I did read a bit on him on the ‘net, and late though I am, I’m a fan.

Would love to know what is PMRC! Will have to google it, but got to go to work now (yiiii haaaaaaaa :( !) Will have to remember. It would leave a lasting impression on me too, certainly. You’re a wealth of knowledge, Michael! HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR THE 29TH!!

You’re my hero, Michael! It’s 12.15 a.m. Friday & I’ve got caught up with so much bla-bla after work, and only recently got to bed, and no way feel like researching – but you’ve delivered it. AWESOME: THANK you :) :) :)

This was enormously interesting, thanks, Michael.

I can see he didn’t win his case because Eminem (for example) has that ‘Explicit Advisory’ warning lables on his music. I don’t know how long the stickers have been in place though. Did that happen soon after this… or a long time after this? (only answer if you have time; I know you’re studying)

I love lyrics being with CDs. I wonder when that started too, & how the cost was absorbed.

I bet the lady never saw his kids’ toys… John Denver followed? This must have been so interesting at the time.

Again – thanks for troubling to bring it to me, Michael.

                  N’n.

They started placing the stickers right after, which had little effect on those buying the music. All it did was make people want the albums even more. The first album to receive the sticker was Frank’s final album and the ironic thing about that was it was a completely instrumental album.

The stores that wouldn’t carry stickered albums ended up losing patronage after a while and either had to start carrying the albums or go on under (I celebrated for everyone that went under. Fuck them).

Those people thought John Denver was going to be on their side, until he started talking. The whole debacle was a waste of time.

Now the stickers are completely pointless in the digital age.

This is so interesting, Michael. Thanks for filling me in! :)

Frank’s INSTRUMENTAL was the first to receive a sticker? HOW is that justifiable? WHAT was the offending tune? If you played it backwards, did it say ‘fk me, fk you, PRMA; I say fk you say kf – who’s gunna lose their rights to-day?’

Hee. Hmmm. Unreal. Yes, must say I do like the odd STICKERED WARNING LABELLED album in my collection.

I don’t know much about Frank Zappa but I always liked him from one little interview I saw a clip of years ago. He was being asked about his children’s “odd” names and he asked what was so pretty about names like “Ralph”? :)

Way to go on the work for the book Noeleen!
